At the heart of TNC Canada’s approach is a deep commitment to partnership, strengthening local communities, bolstering our economy, and bringing global resources to Canadian conservation opportunities. Learn more about themes that guide our work.
Our thematic icons are inspired by the vision and art of Ian Reid, a Heiltsuk artist based in Bella Bella, in the Great Bear Rainforest, a community that TNC Canada has worked with for 10 years. Ian, whose ancestral name is Nusi, which translates to “Full Moon,” designed the source drawing for our Indigenous Leadership icon. He explains, “The face in the outline of an eye reflects the vision TNC Canada shares with First Nations and how we see new ways of working together.”
From forest to sea, we drive conservation at the greatest possible scale, irrespective of borders and designed to endure, for the future of people and nature.
